National Small Works Competition and Exhibition

Eligibility: Open to all artists residing in the United States, 18 years or older. Wall art only.
Maximum size is 13”x 13” and 5” deep, including the frame. No exceptions. All artwork must be original work, with no reproductions or copies, and cannot have won an award in a
previous exhibition at the Mesquite Fine Arts Center. Artwork must be priced for sale.
DEADLINE FOR APPLICATION: Friday, October 13, 2023
Entry Procedure: Entries will be juried into the competition from photos or digital images. One image per work. Label each entry with the name of the artist, title of work, medium, and size (including frame) on the back of the photo, or for digital image label it in the body of the email (address to vvarts@gmail.com with subject line Lucky 13). Email is preferred. Photos will not be returned. Notification of juried acceptance of artwork will be emailed to artists on or before October 15, 2023. Once accepted, submit the Entry Form by email or mail, with payment.
Payment Procedure: The entry fee is $13 per piece of artwork and is nonrefundable. Payment is due no later than October 21, 2023. Accepted entries can be paid for online under National Small Works/Lucky 13 at mesquitefineartscenter.com or by check/money order payable to VVAA when paying by mail. If paying by mail, send printed entry forms and payment to:

Forwarding accepted artwork: Work can be shipped or delivered to Mesquite Fine Arts Center at the above address. Please enclose a one-page artist statement/biography, if
desired. All work must be suitably framed and presented with a wire hanger; no saw tooth
hangers are accepted. Any work deviating significantly from the original juried photo may be rejected. Artwork must be labeled on the back of each piece with the name, title,
medium, and price. The Virgin Valley Artists’ Association (VVAA) and Mesquite Fine Arts Center volunteers and the City of Mesquite will not be liable for any damage or loss of
artwork. Submission of entry to this competition constitutes acceptance of all conditions. If shipping artwork, enclose a return shipping label and prepaid postage. Mailed artwork
should be received no later than October 25, 2023. In-person Art Drop Off is Saturday, October 28, 2023, 12:00 to 4:00 p.m.
Sales: VVAA will retain a 30% commission on all sales. The price listed on the entry form will be considered the retail price. An IRS W-9 form is required for sales/awards paid to the artist.
Lucky 13 Awards Reception will be held Thursday, November 16, 2023, 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. in the Mesquite Fine Arts Center Gallery. Checks will be presented, or mailed to winning artists who cannot attend the reception.
Art Pick Up: Artwork may be picked up in person on December 30, 2023, or during the following week through January 6, 2024, during regular business hours. Artwork with return postage will be mailed back during this same week.
